WordPress Reader update problem?

Admins – thank you for your efforts to resolve the problem. It is appreciated. Let me know what else you need.

Hi there,
I’m able to like posts using your account. I tested this both in the Reader and the sites directly.
I think this might be related to your browser. So please let me know what browser you use (and which version) and which extensions (if any).

It still does not work for me, from the Reader application, and cookies are enabled. The only blogs I can “Like” are ones where I receive a post in email, and those particular blogs with email “like” buttons allow it. Everyone else has to get “liked” through the Reader, and right now that is not possible. The WP “Like” policing software probably ignores “likes” from email posts.
If it is not the “Like” policing software still holding me in the dungeon, then it is a WP Reader update of some sort. My browser and settings did not change mid morning when things stopped working in the middle of a session. No one has answered either of those questions yet. You may have to kick this problem up the line to someone on the back end who may have more expertise in this area.
Please let me know when you have done that.

I just tried liking one of Tim Price’s comments to me on his blog site from within the Reader feed. Still doesn’t work. Hitting the like button gave an error message of “You cannot like this comment” It is a small pop up box with a red square at the left with an exclamation point in within a white circle in it.
I also tried “liking” from the Notifications icon. That will show it is “liked” (blue star), but goes back to grey within a minute. I am assuming you tried that one”Liking” method and looked at that only briefly. You probably did not notice things going back to grey. No error message pops up with that one.
I have been successfully “liking” some posts and comments from the email, which is being used with the same browser, same computer.
This is what I have historically seen, BEFORE the current problem, with posts and comments received via email that have a “Like” button associated with them. Not all email posts come with a “Like” button:
- Some sites successfully process a post “like”, but not a comment “like”
- Some sites successfully process a comment “like”, but not a post “like”
- Some sites successfully process both a post and comment “like”
The simpler the site the fewer problems. Themes people use vary, some are free plans, some are paid plans. Many problems are plug-in issues and I know a few bloggers that have pulled the plug on offending plug-ins. The Reader feed, which was the only consistent way to both “like” and comment, worked until it didn’t mid session. My software did not change in the middle of things. Commenting is unaffected.
I have been successfully using the “Like” from email, on blogs where I am able to, all day today. Either the “Like” policing software ignores “likes” from email, or something changed within the Reader application.
Please escalate. Thank you in advance.

I tried Google Chorme today and it is allowing me to like posts through the reader. It may work for you. Hope it all goes well.

Thank you for your input. I am glad things are working for you now. I have replied to their request for more information, so we will see what they come up with.

Liking from within the Reader feeds seems to be working again, as of yesterday afternoon, to the extent that it did before the problem. I have made no changes on my end and still use the same browser.
