WordPress requires FTP to add new plugins
-
Hi All,
I’m helping a non-profit organization to update and manage their WooCommerce store. We are not able to reach the person who original setup the website. When I try to update some plugins or add a new one, a pop up window show up asking about FTP credentials.
I’ve created some websites directly from WordPress that was hosted on GoDaddy, Hostgator or Bluehost. However, I never run into this issue.
How do I resolve this?
Thanks,
-
Hi skyechang0713,
Can you share the URL link of the website you are looking for help with?
Thanks! -

Hi again,
Your site http://www.bunnybunch.org/pages/ is a Self Hosted WordPress site, here is a useful document I found to manage your Plugins:
https://codex.wordpress.org/Managing_PluginsAlso, to be able to get FTP details for some plugins as you mention, you would have to contact the Hosting Provider company.
Your best place to get help for this site would be here:
WordPress org SupportThis forum is just for WordPress.com folks, also if you would like to know the difference read more about it here:
WordPress Com vs WordPress ORG
Hope you get the solution soon. -
Hi there,
Just want to add that the WordPress.org forums can help you with the WordPress software, but they won’t be able to help you with FTP access. ONLY your hosting provider can do that.
It looks like your site is hosted by https://www.hosting4less.com/, so you’ll need to contact them for help with this.
And for help with the WooCommerce plugin, please see:
