WordPress says I do not have a website
-
When I go to the stats page for my wordpress blog https://wordpress.com/stats/day/theyearinmusic.wordpress.com
there is a message saying “you do not have any WordPress sites yet”
This is not a correct statement. I have had a site for over 8 years called “The Year in Music”. The confusion has something to do with cookies being deleted on my pc in order to try and fix a problem I was having with another website log-in. Please advise what steps I need to take in order to be able to edit my wordpress blog again and be able to see stats. -
This is a different account. Log out from this account and log back in as username chblack and whatever password you use for your site.
-
I do not know what the password is for username chblack because I have relied on cookies forever to log me in automatically. Also I had a totally different email address 8 years ago which I cannot access anymore so if wordpress emailed me my password I have no way to read that e-mail. What do I do now??

That was a dangerous thing to do. Also it is a good idea to keep your email address updated for your account just in case a situation like this should ever arise. Password resets are send to the email address on file. The only other way to recover a site is if you have ever purchased an upgrade and can produce a transaction receipt. If you haven’t one of those then you’ll need to think hard and try and recall your password.

I did run into this situation once before and when I was finally able to login I did update my email address to my current email (email visible only to moderators and staff). However any emails that are sent to that address for logging in take me to a wordpress page that says I do not have any websites. Again I say this is not correct. What do I do now I have spent 8 years of work on the website and it is apparently lost!

Transaction receipt for what???
-
It’s if you purchased any upgrade such as a Premium theme. You can try completing this form: https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=recovery

Something interesting I just found is I can get to my stats page by typing in the stats page URL onto my smartphone. Where do I need to go from there to find out what my password is?

I am now on my profile page for my website on my iPhone. I do not work on my website from my iPhone I need to access the website from my pc. I currently cannot access my website from my pc. How do I change my email address on my profile so I can get a password reset email sent to my current email address??
-
If you can access your site via your phone then immediately go to Account Settings and change the email address to one you can access. Then you will be able to do a password reset.
-
Don’t forget that under “Security” “Account Recovery” you can set up a backup email address and phone number.
-
account settings shows that my mail address is the one i currently use. so the question is where are the password reset emails going to? They are not going to my current email address. I need wordpress to send a password rest email to the email address shown in my account settings.
-
Is it a Gmail email with various social folders? Have you checked any Spam or Junk folders? I’m out of ideas. If you completed the “Security” and “Account Recovery” sections and still have no luck then you could always add the word modlook to the tag box on the right. That will involve a member of staff in due course, (remember it is the weekend) who may be able to assist you.
