WordPress screws up royally, again
-
I don’t know how or why, but EVERY SINGLE category or tag I put on my blogs simply links back to my own blog.
Click on one of the recent ones and see, like http://loomisnews.wordpress.com/2009/07/18/southern-strategy-redux/
where all the tags or categories simply go to:
http://loomisnews.wordpress.com/tag/sonia-sotomayor/
It does not link to the global tags/categories of WordPress — so my blog posts (brilliant, I might add) never get into the global stream.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

loomisnews,
In your dashboard, check your privacy settings (dashboard > settings > privacy)
Be sure that you have ticked:
“I would like my blog to be visible to everyone, including search engines (like Google, Sphere, Technorati) and archivers”If you have a check mark beside either of these, then your categories and tags will be out of the global search system:
“I would like to block search engines, but allow normal visitors”
or
(“I would like my blog to be visible only to users I choose”—because I could see your blog you do not have this option checked)As for the “change button to the right”
I’m not sure what you are referring to.
Clarify. -
This looks normal to me. Mine does the same and Im happy with it.
You see, what its doing… is this… if you open a single article and then you click on a tag, where the link sends you is to your own blog, yes, but it lists all the blog entries that have the associated tag

cogitoergocogitosum
If this is you (Please, it is very helpful to provide a link to your blog, or to link your name to your blog as in the sticky post at the top of the forum), then this post:
http://cogitoergocogitosum.wordpress.com/2009/06/27/human-evolution-extinction/
leads to a global tag when I click on the “ethics” tag below it.
http://en.wordpress.com/tag/ethics/Categories and tags in your sidebar always lead to your own posts.

1tess had it in one.
loomisnews, you selected the “I would like to block search engines, but allow normal visitors” privacy setting. This includes global tag pages.
