WordPress Security Breach

  • Unknown's avatar

I am a web developer that manages multiple sites on behalf of clients. Over the past week, some of the client websites have (systematically) been hacked. It’s as if the hacker is trying one of the websites under my management each day (not all hacked at once). Any idea where to start looking where the breach might have taken place? It cannot be a coincidence that these sites are being hacked one-by-one. Would also appreciate a recommendation on software that covers multiple sites – I have the free WordFence plugin on all sites but it has not stopped this cyber attack. Thanks WP community 😎

  • Hi there,

First and foremost, I’m truly sorry to hear about the recent cyberattacks on your clients’ websites. That can be a challenging situation to navigate, and I completely understand your concerns.

It seems there might be a bit of confusion, though. You’ve posted in the WordPress.com support forums. WordPress.com is a managed hosting provider. It sounds like your question is addressed to the WordPress.org community. So, I recommend posting over on their forums at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/

That said, if you’re open to considering alternatives to help improve the security of your clients’ sites, we’d love to assist. By moving your clients’ sites to WordPress.com, you can take advantage of our managed platform, where we handle security, updates, and maintenance on your behalf. This means your sites will be guarded by our robust security measures, and you’ll also have dedicated WordPress support.

For a closer look at what we offer:

Also, we’ve developed an intuitive tool that automates the entire migration process to make your transition as smooth as possible: https://wordpress.com/support/import/import-using-move-to-wordpress-com/

I hope this helps. If you have any further questions or need guidance, please don’t hesitate to ask.
