WordPress Server Issue

  • Unknown's avatar

My site has been down for over a week now. The site won’t load and is giving a “server may be busy” message, presumably from timing out.

    My wordpress site is: safeguardthesouthfork.wordpress.com

    and is redirected to: http://www.safeguardthesouthfork.org

Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot?

I have tried accessing the site over the period of the past week from several different computers and browsers. It doesn’t work from anywhere.

All help is appreciated. Thank you!

    Hey there,

About two weeks ago, you purchased the Site Redirect upgrade for safeguardthesouthfork.wordpress.com, and redirected it to http://www.safeguardthesouthfork.org. http://www.safeguardthesouthfork.org is a domain that you’ve purchased through a third-party, GoDaddy, and is currently pointed at their nameservers. From there, http://www.safeguardthesouthfork.org appears to be pointing at a non-WordPress.com server that is not responding.

Would you like your domain name to load your WordPress.com site, safeguardthesouthfork.wordpress.com, when you access it?

    Best,
    P.

If you want visitors to go to safeguardthesouthfork.org and see that in their browser address bar but see the content at safeguardthesouthfork.wordpress.com – then you want to map an existing domain name (that is what I am doing) – not domain redirect or forwarding

I would expect you can probably get a refund with some help from @pcrumm

    Thanks so much.

Yes, I am wanting to map an existing domain so that my wordpress site loads at safeguardthesouthfork.org. My mistake.

P, should I just purchase the map existing domain? Is the site redirect also necessary?

    Thanks again!

    Hey there,

You’ll simply need the domain mapping–the site redirect is not necessary.

I’ve gone ahead and removed the site redirect from your account and have refunded the purchase fee–the refund should appear on your statement within seven business days.

You can go ahead and purchase the domain mapping at your leisure through Store -> Domains in your blog’s dashboard.

    Best,
    P.
