wordpress setup for webcomics?
-
I am thinking of starting a webcomic, but I see that when people try to do that in a blog-style format things get awkward. A lot of the blogs on wordpress.com are examples of that. People try to make a webcomic by just including lots of images in a big long scrolly thing and it looks awkward and it’s too many images to load at once. You really want to see one image at a time and have a button to go to the next one. So I was thinking that a weblog might not be the best kind of website to run a webcomic from.
But then I searched on the web and found out about
http://mindfaucet.com/comicpress/
which offers a theme designed especially for webcomics. It’s a wordpress theme but it’s not on the list of themes offered here. Can it, or something like it, be made available on wordpress.com?

Sorry the themes you see in the design section is what wordpress.com
has to offer. But if you know CSS you could buy the upgrade & design
your site the way would link it to look. -
Also by linking your name to your blog it will serve the purposes…
If you need to ask a support question in the forum then it will make it easier for the volunteers to see what blogging platform your using & will aide them in giving you a more accurate answer to your question.

Looking at the theme you linked, it appears that it is one strip (as opposed to one panel). If that’s the case, you could set your blog to display just one post at a time.
I’d think you’d want to choose a theme with as wide an image area as possible. Take a look at this FAQ http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/09/25/how-big-can-my-images-be/

You can also use the Monotone theme, which was designed for displaying art. It only shows one post at a time; there are limitations, though. It doesn’t have sidebars, so no widgets, blogroll, etc.
