WordPress showing inflated space usage

    I am new to wordpress. So may be this problem. I have used just 4 MB space of the 3 GB wordpress account, everything included, but the space usage shows 43.1 MB used of 3 GB. I have checked everything. cant make sense of it. I have gone to each file to check the size it does not come more than 4 MB.
    help!!!

    Hi. The problem is the file size of some of your images. The first image in your latest post A Happy and a Holy New Year 2015, for example, is alone more 9 MB. I refer to the image titled “hospital-inauguration 1.” I was startled by that figure, because the image quality is quite low in that case, but that is what Windows says. The second image in the same post, “annual alumni meet 2781,” is even larger than the first with respect to width and height, but Windows measures it at a mere 1.45 MB.

    To prevent this problem you should scale each of your images to a more reasonable size before uploading them to your media library. The WordPress support page Image Optimization might be useful.

    Correction:
    The second image mentioned is in second most recent post 1st Annual Alumni Meet “Sai Vaidya Sangamam,” published on December 30.

    Thank you I did use the scaling down method provided by WordPress, looks like it does not work that way. May be I need to do it in my system and then upload again.

    The scaling in WordPress does not change the size of an image in the media library, only what is seen on your blog – you need to edit the images before they are uploaded
