WordPress site/Bigcommerce for WordPress
-
HI,
I pointed my domain to Bigcommerce. My domain is registered with Namecheap. As you know, I need WordPress site before installing Bigcommerce for WordPress. What I’m going to do?
Thanks -
Hi there,
As far as I know, BigCommerce offers hosting, so you don’t need to get additional hosting for your store.
Are you looking at creating a website using WordPress and integrate your BigCommerce store?

Hi WordPress.com Forum
Let me clarify some details regarding my situation. The thing is not about the hosting.
My concern is about WordPress and Bigcommerce for WordPress.
As we all know, to install and activate the plugin, we need either WordPress site or download (the plugin).
Let’s say, I want to install and activate the plugin via WordPress admin.
In order to get WordPress site, I went to wordpress.com to create WordPress admin which I could use to install the plugin.
During the process (=creation of WordPress site), the system asked me to point my domain to them (=WordPress), something I couldn’t do because my domain name has been pointed to Bigcommerce via my domain registrar (which is Namecheap)
My specific question is how can I proceed in order to get WordPress site (or WordPress admin) before installing the plugin?
Can I get WordPress site via WordPress.com by pointing my domain name to them?
Can WordPress.com Forum provide me some details about my situation?
PLEASE, I NEED HELP
Thank you in advance.
Regards,
Raphael

Thanks for clarifying. It is possible to install plugins on your WordPress.com site, but to do so you will need the WordPress.com Business Plan or higher. The ability to add plugins is not included on free WordPress.com sites.
You can see what is included in the Business plan, and compare to our other plans here: https://wordpress.com/pricing/
Another option would be to set up a self-hosted WordPress site, which are sites that you create on a “traditional web host” like Bluehost, GoDaddy, etc. They are a little different from us in that they use the “open-source” version of the WordPress platform, which is software you can install on any standard web host, and does allow you to add plugins by default.
