WordPress site down, "no data received", can't access dashboard OR site

I’m hoping that this is where I can ask this question. I am not asking about a blog that I own, but rather a site that is a WordPress site (I log in via wp-admin and make edits via the WordPress dashboard), but the server is hosted on my university’s server. This is a unit website of a department of the UMN so the fact that it is not working is a major problem. The site is located at http://cascw.umn.edu.

On Friday, after I published a new blog post on the blog attached to our website, the site suddenly disappeared and ever since, it has said “no data received” on Chrome (and similar messaging elsewhere). It has nothing to do with my specific browser – it is unavailable for everyone. I have contacted the UMN to check with the server, but it appears this is not the issue, as they have reset the server and cannot find any problems there. I can see that all of my site’s content is still there, via FTP, but nothing seems to be working.

This problem did occur earlier in the week, but was resolved by restarting the server. As this is not working this time, it must be something else.

Please let me know what I can do to fix this issue.

cascw.umn.edu is hosted by University of Minnesota not WordPress.com and we cannot help you with it here at all.

WordPress.com and WordPress.org are completely separate and have different logins http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the support forums there and receive advice from WordPress.ORG bloggers.

OK thanks, I will try that. (Didn’t know the difference – I’m not normally the one to handle this side of things.)

    Best wishes with your site.
