WordPress site looking terrible on IE, but great on all the other browsers

    Hi there,
    my website looks fabulous on Chrome and Firefox, but it looks truly awful in Explorer.
    Someone advised pasting this code , so that it looks on Explorer close to how its meant to look (and DOES look) on Chrome and Firefox.
    <meta http-equiv=”X-UA-Compatible” content=”IE=Edge”>
    However, I cannot find anywhere to paste this (they said to insert it in my HOME menu, but I cannot find out how to do that). I tried inserting it into my text widget and also into the post itself, but this code is automatically removed by wordpress.
    help – it’s crucial that people using explorer see our wordpress site the way its meant to look.
    Thanks for your help!
    Cheers!

    That has to go in the head section, but we cannot access or modify the theme files. I don’t have IE, but hopefully someone will come by and take a look at it in IE for you.

    Thank you! That’s what I meant to say, the HEAD section, not the HOME section. I just cant work out how to get into the head section. Cheers!

    You cannot get into the head section here at WordPress.com, but staff are very good about making sure things look right in all major browsers.

    What exactly isn’t looking right in IE?

    The small gif in the left column is giant sized; the text in the left column text widget goes over the border of the widget, and most critically, there is a giant space on the top of the page – basically the main body of frontpage (the main post) only starts where the side text widget ends…

    I have the same problem with one of my blogs – I use Firefox and it looks perfect, but people using IE see it differently: e.g. Quintus theme has round buttons with the post date but IE shows that as a square; widget pics don’t show up in correct size and are distorted; IE shows strange empty field in the sidebar that looks like a search field but has no function…
