WordPress stole my money?
-
I created an account called venusspeaks (Receipt ID: 37513769
Transaction ID: [redacted]
I was charged for a year of billing. I now cannot log in using my email address and can’t recover the account. I used an alias address ((email visible only to moderators and staff)), which forwards to my actual email. Every time I try using one of your links, WordPress redirects me to that account, so I’m no longer able to access the account that I paid a years’ worth for. Please help! -
Hi there,
So, are you using the alias address or your actual email address when attempting to recover your account? What is your actual email address and is that connected to a WordPress.com account? You have to use the alias email address when attempting recovery because that is the email that is connected to the account – the system has no way of knowing that it is a forwarding address.
The transaction ID you provided confirms your ownership (I’m removing it from these forums because they are public), so if you want me to update your account to the your actual email, let me know what that email is and I can make that change.
Thanks!

Please delete my account. I don’t need a refund, but I do NOT want to be charged for an auto renewal or anything else from WordPress. Please verify with a confirmation number or some sort of guarantee that my account has been terminated and that I’ll never be charged any sort of renewal fee.
Thank you.

Hi there,
Deleting a WordPress.com is something we highly encourage the user to do – it’s something we normally do not do on our end.
Let me know if you want me to update your email you you reset your password and regain access to that account.
You can permanently close your account by logging in and going to the following link:
https://wordpress.com/me/account/close
For more information on closing your account, please visit our support page:
Thanks,

I guess I can’t really emphasize enough how I cannot actually access the account, so if the only thing you can do is change the email address associated, then please change it to:
(email visible only to moderators and staff)From there I will delete it myself.
This is a very interesting Customer Service model you guys run.

Hi there,
I just checked and the email you provided is already associated with another WordPress.com account. There are a few options. You can:
1. Remove the email from your current WordPress.com account in order to free it up for this account
2. Provide me with a different email address that is not associated with a WordPress.com account
RE: You closing the account instead of us – deleting a site and/or an account can be a big deal, so we make sure that the decision is yours and yours alone to make. There is no reverting the decision after 30 days. So, we give you the power to do it on your end. I have removed the upgrades from under account so that it will not be a hindrance from you closing it.
Let me know if there is a different email you want me to update the account with.
Thanks,
