WordPress stops importing from Blogger after 700 Posts?
-
Is there a limitation size wise the wordpress offer in blogging 0r
New utility on the wordpress dashboard imports only the first 700’s not the rest (I have over 1500 in Blogger to be imported into wordpress)
Or I have missed something in the process?
(PS: I have tried restart few times when it stopped and managed up to 700’s then it hangs there and doesn’t import anymore)
I appreciate any suggestion/help
Regards

It could be this problem, which is not resolved yet:
https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic.php?id=6685&page=2&replies=43#post-59116I have a similar problem and have encouraged the people at Blogger to contact WordPress, but no response yet.

I have managed to import all the posts (around 1500) with many tedious restart, reset etc, but it was too annoying and took me 2 days on and off at different time slots.
Surely it shouldn’t be this hectic.
My problem is not solved as far as I am concerned since I had to import few (2-10 posts each time ) and very frustrating.
I hope someone fixes this problem ASAP and no one has to go through the agony I have gone through

Surely it shouldn’t be this hectic.
Considering that blogger.com doesn’t support exporting and this is pretty much a workaround, gotta admit that I’m amazed that it does work.
I would send in a feedback with any details that you can provide to help staff.

I managed sometimes 1-2 sometimes 10-20 messages at a time. I have over 1500 posts import completed.
Today, I wanted to import few more and it doesn’t work. If I am persistent enough and spend (which I cannot justify) time, I could import the remaining few (under 10 at present but it grows few a day). But my main concern was the bulk of 1500 and I did it.
It would be a great and necessary function if it works again without all the problems.
Blogger may have part of the problems, but if wordpresss provides an import function, then one must expect that it must work, if not then it becomes a beta feature of the wordpress which waits to be fixed.
Nothing further to provide feedback at this stage.
I have provided the details on how I managed to import 1500 posts fully (with all the dramas, I have mentioned)
drmike: If you can think of any specific questions, I would love to answer as much as I can to make this thing work since it could be a very vital tool for people to import their entire posts over to wordpress

Anyone has made any progress in successful importing . . .
Please share your views . . .

No. Wouldn’t this serve a feedback too?
If not, tell me how and where to provide the feedback please (other than mentioning this thread I am just about to do) -
The Feedback link is found at the upper right corner of any backend page when you’re logged in. That way a support ticket is generated. We don’t make support tickets here in the forums since none of us have file level access. (And we’re mostly volenteers)
-
Thank you drmike. I have reported the problem (through the Feedback link) about the same time as my latest post. I now received a reply/question which I have answered.
I’ll keep you all posted as soon as receive some clarification on the issue if not a solution.
In the meantime, I urge anyone else have similar import issues to air them here so that we’ll keep each others informed if the problem is an isolated one or not

Help desk doesn’t help.
Latest message I have ask me to raise another support ticket with the help desk. What an insufficent response
Looks like some user needs to help rather than the so called support
-
There is absolutely nothing any other WordPress bloggers can do for you. We don’t have access to stuff like that. It needs to be a staff help.
Have you imported all your posts yet?
-
I appreciate your response raincoaster.
To answer your question:
Not really.
I even Registered another blog at wordpress to try the function as a fresh one. It has imported several hundred posts at some intervals. But cannot import all posts as I have now over 1600 posts in blogger at present and growing. If anyone can do it Please do so for me
(Which involves you to register another blog and I’ll authorise your import from blogger.
After you import all successfully, then export the file as xml or whatever and upload it somewher where I could import the file from there onwards which might be an alternative effort I’d like to investigate

Do just what Mark said. None of us here in the forums can help you any more than we already have in this thread. That’s the sum total of our knowledge on the subject.

I already did sometime ago today.
I’ll keep you posted here whenever ı could find out any updates on the issue -
No, if anyone has done it I’d love to see that.
Help Desk hasn’t got anything to offer either unfortunately

Call me an old cynic but in my experience of this there is a degree of commercial politics in the import / export issue. Some are supported more than others. Work it out for yourselves. :)
