WordPress theme not working

I switched themes on wordpress.com and the new old theme shows up in the editor. WordPress says I’m using the new theme but it’s not. How can I fix it?

This problem with themes is increasing. I decided to experiment and I created a new website in my account and chose a new theme. Then I went to themes and selected another one and switched to that.

When I go to the editor page for “home” the top of the page (header) is the new theme (2013) and the rest of the page is the original theme (Barnsbery). Worpress offers a very limited selection of themes that they force you to pick at the initial setup stage so I can’t pick the theme I want till later. Should’nt the most recent theme reflect the content of that theme? I thought that was the point so you can modify that type of page, options, etc they set up, not just the header area of the theme I want.

  • Hi there!

The theme did change, however, your homepage is still displaying the demo content from the original theme. You can create a brand new homepage, go to My Site>Design>Customize>Homepage Settings and use the new one instead.

If you’d like to create one just like in the theme’s demo, you can follow the instructions from the theme page.

Thanks, that answers a lot of the issues I was having. I created a new blank homepage and it has the header of the new theme and I can re-create content I like. The only thing is that in recreating a home page like the theme it automatically adds the Title I give the page at the top. Looks kind of stupid for the home page to say “Home” in giant letters before the content. There doesn’t seem to be a way to get rid of that unless I’m missing something.

Thanks but free version doesn’t support that option.

  • Correct, Custom CSS is the only way to modify this.
