WordPress thinks my email address is already being used.

  I need to change my email address but the error message says the email address I need to change it to is already being used. Since I’ve never received anything WordPress related at the address I want to use, I’m sure the email hasn’t been hijacked. How do I over ride this error message and reset my email?

  Does this help?
  You have two separate email address settings at WordPress.com.

  Blog notifications for the admin (like comment moderation, Likes, new subscriptions, etc) are sent to the email address at Settings -> General in the Dashboard.

  Personal notifications (like comments on your post, subscription emails, and upgrade renewals) are sent to the email address at Users -> Personal Settings in the Dashboard.

  Thanks for the response. Evidently what I need to do is get my primary email address de-linked from whatever WordPress account it is currently associated with. I’ve posted another, more detailed question about that.
