WordPress throwing up error with Linked-in connection
-
Hi,
I was about to publish a new post yesterday when I noticed a red-outlined warning in the ‘Publicise’ section of the admin, which told me that my Linked In connection needed re-setting.
It said something like “Before you hit ‘Publish’, click here to re-establish your connection with Linked In”. I had no option but to click on the button (as the ‘Publish’ button was unavailable) and was taken away from the admin page – but an error message came up which said ‘unable to connect to Linked In at this time” (or words to that effect).
However, on going back to my admin page on WordPress, I found that the post I had in draft mode was now published and live! I had not clicked ‘Publish’ as the ‘Publish’ button was not visible while the Linked In error was showing.
It was OK in this instance, as the draft post was just about ready to publish anyway, but I wouldn’t like it to happen again so I have completely disconnected WordPress from Linked In.
I am just reporting this as a matter of interest!

Hi Jo – Thanks for the report. We’ve had a couple of reports of trouble with the LinkedIn issue recently, but we haven’t been able to narrow it down. Could you please try resetting your connection again:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/publicize/#reconnecting-linkedinAnd then let us know if you see an error next time you have a draft post ready to go? I’ve reported what happened to you to the developers working on this.

Hi Jo – The LinkedIn issue should be fixed now. Thanks for your patience, and please let me know if you’re still having problems.

Hi there,
Just published a post, and had a similar issue but with Twitter this time. When I saw the message, I logged out and then back in, and it had disappeared.
I can send you a screenshot if you wish!

Hi Jo – A screenshot would be great. You can just upload it to your blog’s Media Library and I can look at it there.

Hi Jo – Thanks very much. Did you try clicking the ‘refresh connection with Twitter’ button? Or did you just log out and back in? When you published that post, did it show up on Twitter like it was supposed to?

Hi,
No I didn’t click on the ‘refresh’ button – I logged straight out and back in again, and the warning had disappeared. I didn’t make any more alterations to the post, and just published it. The related Twitter post was fine.

Hi Jo – Ok, thanks for letting us know. If you see it again, go ahead and click it, and let me know what happens. Sometimes that message appears if the connection to one of your publicize services goes out for a bit, and refreshing usually fixes it.
