WordPress to Weebly Domain

  • Unknown's avatar

I did this about a month ago and it was working perfectly, and then suddenly my blog went offline. I have now tried this multiple times and my blogs has been offline for 2 weeks now (which isn’t good). I have followed the instructions and nothing is working. Can anyone help or give any advice?

This is the message I was given, but nothing is working:

Hello, I have purchased my domain http://www.toturnthepaige.com from you. I have built my website on Weebly.com. I need you to point my domain to the following IP: 199.34.228.76

This is done by changing my domain’s A-Records. I am not requesting that you transfer my domain, redirect my domain, or change my name servers. I want to remain with you as my domain registrar. For more detailed information, please see http://kb.weebly.com/domain-registrar.html.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi @ferraripaige,

It looks like the domain toturnthepaige.com was cancelled from your site on 1/3/15 alongside the Premium bundle trial. When this happens, the domain is sent back to the registrar and becomes unavailable for several weeks or months. The registrar then decides when to release it back to the public. The domain is not available for registration yet, which is why you were only able to purchase a mapping upgrade on 1/19/15, not a mapping + registration. I’ve refunded your $13 payment as a result.

Going forward, we have two options:

    1. I can attempt to restore the domain to your account. However, you would need to pay the redemption fee charged by the registrar to retrieve the domain ($80). You can read more about this redemption period here:

      http://www.icann.org/epp#redemptionPeriod

    2. We can wait for the domain to become available again for registration. Please note, this can take up to several months, and unfortunately, we have no control over when it becomes available again.

Let me know how you would like to proceed!

If I pay the redemption fee, is it guaranteed that I’ll get my domain back?

I’m not 100% sure that I can get the domain back. You would only need to pay if I’m successful. I just want to make sure you’re aware of the fee before I give this a try. Would you like me to try to recover the domain?

Yes please. Thank you for your help.

I’m on it! I’ll let you know as soon as I know more.

    Hi!

I was able to restore the domain to your account. I’ve created a manual payment request and sent it to your email for the total of $98 ($18 for original registration and $80 for redemption fee). Let me know once you’ve made the payment!

Also, your domain should be working correctly within the next few hours (pointed to the A record you mentioned).

Thank you for your help, but I decided on just going with a new domain ($98) is pretty steep for me. But thanks for your effort, I’m just going to register a new domain.

Sounds good! I’ll cancel toturnthepaige.com from your account.

Let me know if you need anything else!
