wordpress to wordpress
-
I host my own wordpress site and would like to set up a duplicate of it on wordpress.com so is there a way to transfer all the post, and comments from my original site to wordpress.com
I see it possible to transfer others such as moveable type but see nothing about wordpress.

If you’re using the latest WordPress.org software, you should be able to go to Dashboard > Manage > Export and download an xml file that will contain your posts and comments. Then on your WP.com blog, if you go to Dashboard > Manage > Import there’s an option for WordPress right at the bottom. If you follow the instructions you shouldn’t have any problems.

Thanks. So how do I set up my wp.com blog as a mirror site – even though set as private.

You go to Dashboard > Options > Privacy to set it to private; that should stop your blog from appearing on Google or anywhere like that, as long as you don’t link to it in your other blog.
To make it a mirror backup of your other blog, just post to both blogs when you have a new post (use could use something like http://www.blogdesk.org/en/index.htm to make it simple) or every now and then repeat the import that you did before. Hope that helps.
