wordpress to wordpress site transfer

    I have a site that is hosted by an independent host, but it’s a wordpress site. I didn’t see instructions for that. Do I follow the directions for importing from a different site?

    Hi there,

    If you want to migrate the content on that site to a site hosted with us on WordPress.com, you can follow one of the processes here:

    If you want to migrate the content from that site to another WordPress site still at a different host, the export process remains the same, but to import you log into WP-Admin, go to Tools ->Import, install the WordPress importer plugin, and use that to import the export file.

    Keep in mind that your hosting provider might also offer an option through your hosting control panel of simply duplicating an entire site, and also options to migrate a full site from one host to another, rather than just migrating content only, so also check with your hosting provider if that sounds more like what you want to do.

    Note that the forums you’re posting in now can only help you with sites hosted here on WordPress.com.
