WordPress Transfer .com to .org – Nameservers??

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi,

I’m in the midst of moving my .com blog to .org. I’ve imported the content to the .org, no problems. I’ve just paid for the Offsite Redirect, and all the permalinks now go to the new .org blog (hosted by Godaddy). Before doing all this, I had read about changing the nameservers, but now I’m wondering if it’s necessary, or if the Offsite Redirect has already taken care of things?

Do I need to do anything else re. nameservers? Also, what should I do to avoid duplicate content issues? Is it enough to just set my old .com blog to private?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi! Looks like you don’t have to worry about the nameservers. I just looked them up and tarapotolife.com is already using the correct nameservers so you don’t need to change anything. Appears as though your new blog is all good to go. :)

    Awesome!

Sorry to be a pain on New Year’s Eve, but will I avoid duplication issues just by making the old .com private, or should I be doing anything else?

Thanks again, and happy New Year!

Yes! That’s exactly what to do. Change the wordpress.COM blog visibility to “private” to keep search engines out and there will be no duplicate content issue. Also you will have a back-up blog and you can export and import into it periodically to keep the back-up current.
