WordPress = unintuitive and very very time consuming and frustrating….
-
So I thought I’d create a blog (built websites in Dreamweaver – and like the way I’ve designed them). What could possibly be more fun?…………………
Well that was until I registered for WordPress. I would like to say of all the things I’ve learnt how to do in my life, learning your sites features has been the least fun. Period. An absolute killjoy. Why would anyone want to spend over an hour – literally, just trying to figure out the MOST BASIC THING like how to change a font, to have to watch boring youtube videos on where to find the plugins, go back to WP dashboard to go through menus to find the plugins… to be confronted then with lots of plugins for fonts.. to have to figure out which one to use….and then install the plugin only to be not able to see where the functionality of the plugin is within the edit part of a page. WHY??? !!!! For the love of xxx Why?!
JUST PUT IT IN THE EDIT MENU ALONG WITH THE KITCHEN SINK LIKE EVERY OTHER PIECE OF WRITING SOFTWARE EVER CREATED THROUGHOUT THE HISTORY OF COMPUTING!
I get that you wanted to create this fabulous medium and er.. thanks for that, but you forgot that regular non geeks have to use it. We are dumb and need shiny buttons that do it all for us.

There is no FTP access to WordPress.com blogs and we can’t install plugins. So I assume you are referring to a self hosted WordPress.org install and posting to the wrong support forum. If that’s the case then this is the correct support forum link http://wordpress.org/support/ For clairity read > http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

Hi Timethief, thanks so much for the feedback… it’s just never ending with this company though… I just got this logging in to reply:
User isolley Cannot Access the Dashboard RequestedYou are logged in as “isolley” and do not have the necessary privileges to access the dashboard for “WordPress.com”. If you are not “isolley”, please log out, and log back in with your username. If you are “isolley” and you need access, please ask an administrator of the site to invite you.
If you reached this screen by accident and meant to visit one your own sites, here are some shortcuts to help you find your way.
———————————————————————————It’s not me. WordPress is unintuitive. PERIOD. It’s hopeless for a beginner. I see so many people myself included who weren’t aware of the differences b/w the com and org. Even logging in to the org is hard to find and requires a google search – It’s got tons of google search results! Someone really ought to overhaul this sites construct.
I’m also now starting to think it’d be quicker to get a blog elsewhere or build one in CS 5.
I am on the wordpress.com as a self host I think? Seeing as I have got plug in downloaded along with others.
I log into http://www.fatigue-symptoms.com/wp-admin
What I am wondering is why would anyone create a blogging site where people WRITE STUFF and not even allow the user to change the font and size? That is ludicrous. It’s like offering me a guitar and telling me to go and get my own neck… I still haven’t figured out where the typekit that I installed can be accessed from……….. jus basic stuff that wastes a lot of time.
Any help would be greatly appreciated before I cancel the account.

http://www.fatigue-symptoms.com/ is self-hosted which means that it is in no way connected to wordpress.com and will have totally separate login username and password that would have been assigned during installation of the software, and probably sent to you in an email. The username you have here, isolley, will not work with the self-hosted site. It is completely stand-alone. No connection.

Your blog is not hosted by WordPress.COM. It is hosted at UK Webhosting Ltd. They appear to be using, or have allowed you to use, the WordPress software release from WordPress.ORG. This is probably the source of many confusions.
The fact that you have a user named isolley on Gravatar, which is run by the same AUTOMATTIC outfit that runs WordPress.COM, may also be confusing.
This support area is for the support of users of WordPress.COM hosting, including the modified software here to scale hosting up to half a million active bloggers.
Support for other hosting is either at that hosting provider, or at WordPress.ORG if you installed the software yourself at a general hosting site, or your own web server.
Try going back to the same place you created your blog at and login there. if you have lost that address, ask your hosting provider (at ukwebhosting.ltd.uk) for that information and support.
