WordPress Upgrade Refund
-
Hi,
I bought the WordPress Custom upgrade on November 24, 2013. I began to play around with it over Christmas break and when I bought it, I thought there was more functionality and flexibility than what was afforded – which has made me decide that I would like to use the WordPress.org content management system instead. I looked to get a refund but to my dismay I waited and missed the deadline by only 6 days. I made a costly mistake because I did not fully investigate how flexible this option would truly be. I sincerely hope that WordPress can help me out in the spirit of the holidays!
Thanks

Provided you are logged in under the same username account that purchased the upgrades, you can request a refund from your dashboard. > Dashboard > Store > My Upgrades
WordPress.com provides a 30-day refund on all upgrades except Domain Registrations, Domain Renewals, and Guided Transfers.

If applicable also see http://en.support.wordpress.com/bundles/#canceling-a-bundleNote: It takes from 1 – 2 weeks for the refund to be received.

P.S. Note that I have tagged this thread for Staff and that`s not so they create an exception for you. It is because you may wish to retain your domain name and move it to a WordPress.org install.
WordPress.com and WordPress.org are completely separate.
http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/1. Hire a web host http://wordpress.org/hosting/
2. Set up a WordPress.org install and equip it with a theme and plugins.
http://wordpress.org/themes/
http://wordpress.org/plugins/3. Export your content out of your WordPress.com blog http://en.support.wordpress.com/export/ and import it into the install.
4. Purchase a site redirect upgrade from wordpress.com
http://en.support.wordpress.com/site-redirect/ or if you have domain mapping then update the nameservers http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/domain-management/5. Transfer subscribers and stats. See http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/moving-your-subscribers/
6. Set your wordpress.com blog visibility to private. To change blog visibility to private go to > Settings > Reading scroll to Blog Visibility and choose option 3 . See the guide here http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/
Alternatively you can purchase a Guided Transfer and Staff will do the move and set up for you http://en.support.wordpress.com/guided-transfer/
NOTE: WordPress.com and WordPress.org have different log-ins and run different versions of themes with same names. If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the support forums there and receive advice from WordPress.ORG bloggers.

Thanks for the timely response and help for tagging the staff TimeThief,
I wasn’t very clear in my post. I understand that WordPress provides a 30 day refund, but my situation is that I exceeded that refund period by 5 days. I’m hoping that someone in WordPress can find it in their heart to extend that period by 5 days and allow me to receive a refund.

Thanks a lot, timethief. kcspatel, I’ve sent you an email about your domain registration, you can email me back by replying to it!

It looks like you have the Premium upgrade of $99 on your account. That includes Custom Design as well as other upgrades, but also includes a domain that you registered, kushpatel.me.
If you wish, I can refund you the price of the upgrade minus the cost of the domain and you can use that domain on a self-hosted site by updating the name servers as outlined below:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/change-name-servers/If you prefer, I can cancel the domain, but you will not be able to register it again for a while (and in some cases the registrar does not release domains), and I will not be able to refund the cost of that domain, as we can only refund domains for the first 48 hours after they are registered.
Out of curiosity, what made you decide WordPress.com wasn’t sufficient for your needs? Is there functionality we do not provide, or do you need to be able to do more customization than we allow?

Hi
The email notification went to my spam folder (Curse the Google Tabs!) and I just received your message. If you can still complete the refund for $66 I would like for that to occur. I would still like to keep my domain name.
Thanks,
Kush -
I have removed the premium upgrade from your account and refunded you $66. The domain is still active.
You should see the funds in your account within a few days.
