WordPress URL Issues

  Hello,

  I wanted to start fresh on wordpress and went to go change my username, blog title name, and blog url. I was able to successfully change my username and blog title name. However, when I went to go change my wordpress.com url, it says it is taken (from liseblog.wordpress.com to illiise.wordpress.com). I went to the url and it looks like the blog was deleted.

  I did attempt to delete liseblog.worpress.com in which I considered successful because all the content from liseblog.wordpress.com is deleted like intended. However, when I click on My Sites, I see the new blog title name with the liseblog.wordpress.com url.

  My username is pretty unique, so I am suspicious that something has gone wrong.
  Can someone take a look?

  You seem to have domain mapping in place for liseblog.wordpress.com since clicking on that link brings me to notquitevogue.com. So while you may have deleted the content on liseblog, you won’t be able to delete the site itself because of the custom domain mapping. To verify that, I used the Domain Helper tool, which you can find here https://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-helper/ and put “notquitevogue.com” in the search box.

  As far as illiise.wordpress.com, once a site has been deleted, its content and address are gone forever and not available even to the person who originally deleted it. If it was your site, you would have gotten a confirmation email where you needed to click to confirm the deletion.

  When you have a custom domain with mapping, the underlying URL really doesn’t matter. You’ll be the only one who sees it in your Dashboard and on media files.
