wordpress user

About a year ago I started messing around with trying to build a website and joined wordpress. In frustration, I went to realtycandy and purchased one of their themes. Unbenounced to me, I had forgotten I had started with wordpress a year ago and used the same email address. While trying to insert my gravatar I discovered it would not populate my new website so I got back into wordpress, the original attempt and deleted my site. My profile however, is still active. I have tried changed my email address and getting back into wordpress with the email associated to my realty candy site, and word press says the account does not exist. Very frustrating, don’t know what to do to associate word presd with my new website and get rid of the old profile

Hi @cookelow1 — Can you please provide a site address to your website (URL) so that I can check and help further? Thanks!

  • Hi there,

It sounds like you were working on a WordPress site using the open source WordPress.org software at another host. If that’s the case, the Gravatar most likely didn’t update due to a caching issue on your site, and if you clear your site’s cache it should appear.

There is no automatic link between Gravatar and a self-hosted WordPress site, and deleting a site does not disable your Gravatar profile, as it’s something completely separate from your site.

If you give the address of the actual site you need help with I’d be able to give you a more accurate answer.

    To Allison and kokieh,

    my website address is rclowell.flywheelsites.com
    Thanks for the help.

  • Okay, that site is not on WordPress.com, but using the open source software.

If you’ve lost access, you can follow these instructions to reset the password:

    https://codex.wordpress.org/Resetting_Your_Password

It looks like the site is hosted with Amazon Web Services, so they might be able to help if you need more assistance. Your WordPress.com login details won’t work for that site, and we cannot help you regain access.

I see Gravatar support has since replied to you regarding the Gravatar issue. They’re the best team to help you with that, so please keep communicating with them there.

I sign with a wordpress id and password. It is hosted by realty candy. Don’t know anything about Amazon unless Realty Candy uses them. I have not lost access, so I am not sure what you are saying.

Alison has not responded, if she is with Gravatar.

    Thanks,

    @cookelow1,

Yes, I didn’t reply because @kokkieh is already helping you, and has the tools to access your account and help you further. I am here to just be seeing if your issue is resolved, and is willing to reply if there is no answer from anyone in 3 days or so. Please await @kokkieh’s reply.

  • @cookelow,

Your site is using the WordPress software. That software is installed on a server that belongs to Amazon Web Services. If you did not buy a hosting account directly from AWS, then your hosting provider is most likely using their infrastructure.

Either way, your site has nothing to do with WordPress.com, and we cannot help you here. If your Gravatar picture is not appearing on your site it is most likely due to a caching issue as I said in my first reply. In that case you need your hosting provider’s help to refresh your site’s cache. We have no control over your site, so we cannot help with that.
