Ok, it occurred to me earlier when you write on social media platforms you tag people by either start writing their names which then come up or you @them and their names come up then like here you @ then name and the persons name appears.

So if I write a post and within that post I want to name someone if I @them Will their name appear? I’ve tried but nothing happens which just made me wonder if I was doing it correctly?

I’ve tried googling but can’t find the information I’m looking for – only obviously tags to promote your post.

Does anyone know or help please?

    Thank you. 😊

I have found that the best way to “tag” someone is to write their name, then add a link to to it using either their latest post or their “About” page. But with the notifications now being hit and miss, it’s a guessing game if it will notify them.

If you just link to their blog (like “bookstooge.blog”) I know they won’t get notified for sure. So make sure to link to a specific post.

    Hello!

So if I write a post and within that post I want to name someone if I @ them Will their name appear? I’ve tried but nothing happens which just made me wonder if I was doing it correctly?

This feature (using a username to tag individuals, which will be replaced with their name) is not available on WordPress.com sites by default.

As @bookstooge suggested, you can add a link to that person’s post, and if they use the Pingbacks feature, they’ll be notified.

To learn more about this, please refer to this guide:
