  Hi there

  Does anyone know how I can find out what WordPress Version my site, which I started in 2012, is running? On the old dashboard I saw a News item that WordPress version 4.9.4 is available but I’m happy with what I’ve got, using the free WordPress.com platform.

  I tried finding the Version but it’s not on my old dashboard or in the Source code and I can’t access the readme file or the php file, per the instructions at the site below.

  Also I don’t see any Update button or link. Do I HAVE to upgrade to 4.9.4?

  Hi there!

  If you are referring to https://facinatingamazinganimals.wordpress.com/ it is a WordPress.com site. WordPress.com sites run the latest version of the software and they are continuously updated by our devs, so you don’t need to bother about it. The info you found online is referring to the self-hosted version of the software, WordPress. org. They are completely different things.
