WordPress view count and click count issue?
-
Hi, I have a question. I am super confused, so not sure of how to pose this question… Basically, I have a blog, and I use a url click-count tracker, in addition to wordpress’ tracker. My personal tracker says my blog has had 117 urls clicked, but wordpress says there are no (zero) url clicks at all. Can any1 think of a reason for this massive discrepancy? I trust a number like 117 more than 0 honestly, not because its bigger (lol) but because its more exact-looking and more used by me, although the 0 seems to make alot more sense since my blog is only a few days old.
also, wordpress says i have 10 views or so coming from stumble…which is where i submitted the blog, so that seems correct. but how 10 views converts to 117 clicks I don’t know, which is why I am very confused. any suggestions? Thanks a lot, it is very appreciated =)
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

WordPress.COM stats are based on Page Views and not on clicks or hits.
What is a hit?
In web analytics, a hit is any request for a file from a web server. By request means a hit calculates page content delivered, all images to complete that page, and any additional files that need to be loaded to make the web page you are looking at, appear the way it does. What is a page view?
A page view is a request to load a single page of an internet site that results from a page request from a web surfer clicking on a link on another HTML page which is pointing to the page in question. What is a unique visitor?
A unique visitor is access from a single IP to a web server that generates page views and hits during a particular visit. When a visitor has cookies disabled, there is no way of establishing if they are a unique visitor or not. Also note that stumbleupon produces a very high bounce rate that queers your stats.
Bounce rate </strongy> is the percentage of visitors who enter and exit on the same page without visiting any other pages on the same site. Consequently visitors reading your post on the front page without clicking to open the comments is a bounce.
Lastly note that one does not submit their own site to stumbleupon. That’s NOT how it’s meant to be used and submitting your own posts or the posts that are repeatedly from the same site will bring the ban hammer down on you. http://sem-group.net/search-engine-optimization-blog/when-the-ban-hammer-comes-down-on-stumbleupon/

thanks a lot. that answers alot of questions for me, but still leaves the question of my url clicks? my link (not url as i said above sorry) clicks via my tracker equal 117, whereas wordpress says its 0 link clicks.

Simple: WordPress does not count clicks from bots. Other stat counters DO. If your blog got indexed by a search engine, that easily accounts for the difference. Since it’s new, that’s the logical conclusion; that some search engine just ran all over your site checking it out via bots.

oh that makes sense. but i would think the bots would be more clever than to click on links… i would expect em to view links through another way, and I have never had my url clicker account for bot clicks before (I don’t think). I will keep looking into it. thanks alot!

Here’s a link that’s useful: http://en.support.wordpress.com/stats/
The following are not counted:* Visits from registered users of the blog when they are logged in.
* Visits to uploaded documents and files
* Visits from browsers that do not execute javascript or load images.
* GoogleBot and other search engine spiders.
