I registered a .co.za domain with another service provider. I would like to move the hosting of that domain hosting to Bluehost.
I would then like to signup for the annual business subscription with WordPress, please confirm the ff for me:
    1. My website wont contain .wordpress but will be http://www.mysite.co.za
    2. What should be the sequence of events, first transfer the domain to Bluehost and then register it with wordpress or it doesn’t matter?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

I would like to move the hosting of that domain hosting to Bluehost.
I would then like to signup for the annual business subscription with WordPress

These two things are mutually exclusive. You cannot have the same site hosted with two hosting providers, and our plans don’t apply to Bluehost sites, and vice versa.

So first we need to clarify exactly what it is you want to do.

If you want to use that domain with your WordPress.com site at http://keshocoza.wordpress.com/, you need to buy a WordPress.com plan, not a Bluehost plan. And then you can connect the domain here using our domain mapping upgrade:

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/

It’s not possible to transfer a .co.za domain registration to us, so you’ll need to keep the domain’s registration at your current domain provider. If you prefer you can also move the domain registration to Bluehost, but you should not buy a hosting plan from them on top of that, as we’re your host in this case.

Or else, if you want to set up a WordPress site with Bluehost, then we have nothing at all to do with that process.

In that case you’ll be creating a completely new site at Bluehost using the open source WordPress software found on WordPress.org. Bluehost will likely handle the installation of that software for you, but beyond that you’ll go to https://wordpress.org/support/forums/ for any help with that site.
