  I am interested to try this, but want to see how easy it is to work with. I can’t find a way of phoning WordPress to ask and they seem to want me to pay upfront. Is there a way of trying the software to make sure I am ok with working with it before comitting?

  To add to @skobraf’s reply You’ve already created a new site within the last few minutes. You can try the software right there for as long as you like before you commit to upgrading to a paid plan and a custom domain name. There is no phone support at WordPress.com but everything you need to get going is a few clicks away.

  Publish some posts and pages. Upload some images. If you get stuck with your free site then return to this forum with your questions and volunteers or staff will assist.
