Hi, I’ve had a wordpress website for about 10 years at http://babelcolour.com but you’ll notice by the http is wasn’t secure. So I tried to install the Really Simple SSL plugin to generate a certificate and make it https secure. But when I clicked activate my website vanished. When I go to my control panel login page that’s gone too. So I can’t even get through the door to deactivate the plugin and neither http/ or https/ works and babelcolour.com has disappeared into the ether. How do I (a) get it back (b) log into the control panel when the log-in page has gone too? I’m flummoxed.

And when I just clicked on the babelcolour.com link in the question I just posted, it redirects me to Snipe Chandrahasen LLP webpage. So now I’m doubly confused.

    Hello!

Thank you for reaching out to us. Although your website isn’t hosted on WordPress.com, we’re still here to assist you.

Let’s address some common confusion surrounding WordPress. There are three key versions you should be aware of:

    1. The free WordPress software that powers your website.
    2. WordPress.org, where you can download this software for free to use with any hosting provider of your choice.
    3. WordPress.com, a hosting service specifically for WordPress websites, such as the one you’re contacting us from.

Since you’re utilizing the free WordPress software and not the version offered by WordPress.com, you can seek assistance from the community forums hosted on WordPress.org. Here’s the direct link:

    https://wordpress.org/support/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting/

The community members there are well-versed in this particular type of WordPress and can provide you with the most relevant support.

Additionally, it’s a good idea to contact your web hosting provider for assistance. As they host your site’s files, they have direct access to them and are in the best position to help you identify and resolve this issue. If you’re unsure about who your hosting provider is, you can use a tool like Hosting Checker to easily look up this information. Here’s the link: https://hostingchecker.com/

I hope this clarification helps! Feel free to reach out if you have further questions or require additional assistance.

Indeed it does help. Thank you for the clarification. I hadn’t realised any of that.
    Kind regards

    Stuart
