WordPress websites vs wordpress blogsite?

I don’t know if I termed it well… but you guys know what I mean. Do you think a wordpress website, for instance blankblank.org has a better chance of ranking high than a blankblank.wordpress.com blog site? I know that google values wordpress greatly, but I realize that my blogs aren’t ranking, and barely indexing. I see some similarly optimized wordpress generated sites with .org or .com domains that are ranked top 10 on google though! should I invest in a .org or .com domain TLD just for my blogging? Is it worth my time? what do you think?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Simple answer: Blogs vastly outrank static websites. Domain names are not really a major factor in SEO; in fact, for technical reasons whatever.wordpress.com will outrank whatever.com, all other factors being equal.
If what you’re after is SEO, a custom domain will moderately hurt you. If what you are after is building readership and brand recognition, it will help you. Your choice.
