WordPress with ads?

  Ok. Plese don’t flame me. I’m so new to blogging. I’m not new to websites, but blogging is all new. I was looking to create a blog with ads. I thought wordpress was the answer.. but I’m a bit confused in my search. Am I looking for wordpress.org? Does it run solo or does it work with wordpress.com. Can anyone point me in the right directions and provide a few suggestions for me. thanks.
