  You just have to pay really close attention. The free part is usually says something like Free in small letters at the top.

  @cutmastergz, make sure you choose a free subdomain (like one ending with .wordpress.com). If you choose a custom domain (for example ending with .com, or .blog), you will not be able to continue with a free plan.
