I honestly hate the people working at this company, for the garbage they design. I want my writings now visible. Do that. I don’t have the time to navigate your cheap labyrinth to understand how to do that. You should have had the intelligence to know that many people would want that functionality. I hate the people working there: literally. [profanity redacted by staff] and the idiot who wrote an emoticon. I wish you ill-health and suffering.

It looks like you’re referring to a reply you received from a volunteer helper in this support forum in https://wordpress.com/forums/topic/temporary-deactivation-4/. The information they provided you is accurate: Closing a WordPress.com account is permanent, and if you still want your content at a later date, the only option is to set your site to private instead as advised in that thread.
I’m sorry if you’re not happy with that answer, but those are the options we have.
