WordPress.com accessibility

I would like to create an accessible WordPress.com-page and site conform the international Web Content Accessibility Guidelines WCAG 2.0. I’m using wordpress.com and I’ve purchased the Custom Design upgrade.

Unfortunately I can’t add an alternative text to the header image, which is also a link. I would like to make this link understandable for everyone by adding an alternative text.

I also have a problem with empty headers in the menu (and I would like to avoid multiple h1’s on one page).

Can you help me solve this so I can make the page accessible for all?

    Hi there,

Unfortunately there is not currently a way to add a an alternative text for Header Images, nor to limit the number of h1’s on any particular pages.

If you’d like, I can create a suggestion that these changes be implemented in a future version. These suggestions are reviewed regularly and if it’s decided that they’re possible, the suggestions will be put on a roadmap and implemented soon.
