WordPress.com and wordpress.org
-
What is the difference between wordpress.com and wordpress.org? I’m having a bit of information overload as I am seeing too many things on the internet.
I want to upgrade to a WordPress plan so I can monetize my website by including ads from Google and have banner spaces. Which of them can do it?
I also would like to know why I might need to host somewhere else like Bluwhost, GoDaddy, Hostgator and the likes after purchasing a wordpress plan.
Thank you for your time

What is the difference between wordpress.com and wordpress.org?
Great question. There are several major differences. On WordPress.com we handle your hosting and the nitty gritty details that keep your site up and running. With a self hosted WordPress site that uses the WordPress software you’d be responsible for that. So there is a greater learning curve to use WordPress.org (in my opinion).
You can use plugins and have more customization control over the site with WordPress.org.
More differences are detailed in this guide: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
On the left hand side of wordpress.org/support/ there’s a group of material labeled “Getting Started” that I suggest you take a look at.
WordPress.com sites can be monetized through WordAds. Please review these guides:
