WordPress.com App for Windows Crashes

  • At this point I’m afraid I’m out of suggestions for what might help. We have been unable to reproduce this, and I also don’t know of other reports of the app crashing as you describe, so it does appear to be an isolated problem.

    The app does not currently provide crash reports, but we’re working on adding that functionality. Once that’s added we might be able to obtain new information that can help us figure this out.

    Merry Christmas!

    Good News [of sorts] for me.

    WordPress.Com App black-screen crashed on the other computer I am using it on. That confirms it is not a problem with my HP Touchscreen [driver disabled] Notebook computer.

    Other Computer: HP Envy–non-touchscreen
    OS: Windows 10 Home Premium
    WordPress, Com App Version: 1.2.1

    I was uploading pictures. I selected them and pressed open–then crash…

    I hope this helps. Someone else has to be having this problem???

  • I don’t know of any other reports of this happening, no, which is strange, but thank you for the extra information. The fact that both computers are HP machines makes me think it might be an HP-specific driver, but without crash reports it will be hard to pin down exactly what. We’ll keep looking, though.

    I installed v.1.2.3. I have not noticed and fixes to issues I presented. If I do, I will let you know.

    Could it be? Maybe…

    Since I installed v.1.2.3. I have not had a black-screen crash. I uploaded 8 photos today using the app. I have also done several previews and other things where a crash has occurred in the past.

    I know it is early and I probably just cursed by good fortune…

    Anyway, I briefly saw something about the update fixing a problem with a hijacked DLL. Might there be a connection with the fix and my problem?

    I will keep you informed…

    Too good to be true. I have had one crash–in preview mode, going from tablet to PC. That is about 98% better than before. My hope is the engineers will have some idea as to cause & effect.

    Version 1.2.5 is the most stable yet–no crashes so far. I have been using it for 6 days now. It seem that whatever was causing my crashes is resolved. Too bad we do not know exactly what fixed the problem. Nonetheless, it is pleasant to blog with an apparent crash free app.
