WordPress.com App for Windows Feature Request

  • Turns out this bug isn’t specific to the app, but to the editor itself – it happens in some browsers as well – so it has been reported to the right team and they’re working on it.

Very good. Thanks for the update!

Another bug: I have seen this with Versions 1.2.3 &1.2.5.

Bug: I can no longer preview a post using the Preview Button at the upper left of the side panel. Selecting it gives a “Oops! That page can’t be found.” error. It does not matter which device the preview is for.

Work around: Go to the post on the list of draft posts and select Preview there. Preview works…

    Thanks!

FYI: I am at version 1.2.5. The inability to select tags using the mouse [the 1st bug I listed] has been fixed.

None of my Feature Request have been implemented.

Thanks for reporting this. I’ll try to reproduce and report it to the team responsible.

As for the feature requests, I have reported them, but at this point the focus is on fixing bugs and generally cleaning up the code we have already before we start adding new features and enhancements.

    I understand–just giving feedback…

I have another bug or annoyance…

Bug: A new post, published via the schedule function, is not shown with the published post without closing & reopening the app. I find no way to refresh the published list, short of restarting the app.

    Thanks again!

I have another bug or annoyance in addition to the one I submitted 01/18…

Bug:Right clicking on a misspelled word does not show suggested spellings.

    Thanks!

Version 1.2.5 release still gives a black screen crash on uploading several pictures. The was reported in a separate thread. I thought the problem was solved. It is not…

    Thanks!

  • Hi, Jim

Sorry it took so long to get back to you.

A new post, published via the schedule function, is not shown with the published post without closing & reopening the app.

This does update for me in the Windows app, but I see it doesn’t happen instantly. That’s most likely because the API calls to fetch the new data happens at set intervals. Also note that scheduled posts only publish the first time someone views the blog after the scheduled time, so that can also contribute the delay.

Right clicking on a misspelled word does not show suggested spellings.

This is one of the features we’re actively working on to add, but it’s not available yet.

still gives a black screen crash on uploading several pictures.

I’m sorry to hear you’re still having this problem. We’re working on a way to get crash reports from the app. Once we’ve figured that out we should be able to see what is causing the crash and fix it on our end, but at this stage I have no new information beyond what we’ve already tried in the other thread.

Thank you for the response and the status on the 3 items above. I’m hope to see some of these functional in the next release. Best…

What is the best way to give app feedback?

I have a problem with the current release–1.2.7. Spell check is not working. The app does not underline misspelled words, nor offer suggestions. The draft of this version did the same. The release version worked for about a day and then stopped working. the function has not returned.

    Thanks!

    James

  • Spell-check has never worked in the app yet. It’s something we’re still working on. You can see the open Github issue on it here:
    https://github.com/Automattic/wp-desktop/issues/10

You’re welcome to also leave feedback, or even contribute on the Github repo if you want.

    Thanks for the Github link!

I had the red line. It went away and now returns–intermittent.

    I see this at Github:

@krainboltgreene the current support for spellcheck is to only show misspelled words with a red line under incorrect words.
