WordPress.com blog, approached by betting company…

    Hi,

For just over two years I have written a snooker blog which has grown slowly and is currently getting approximately 2,000 hits a day.

I have now been approached by an online gambling firm who sponsor some of the biggest tournaments in the sport about the possibility of them advertising on my site with a banner.

If I understand things correctly however, I believe that I can’t do this on a .com blog? I want to do everything properly and everything so wanted to confirm what I can and can’t do and if that is correct, what my options are.

I was looking at the .org option but it looks a bit tricky for me as although I am fine with what I have now, I’m not sure I am quite tech savvy enough for a .org one.

If I were to look at that though, could I just transfer my .com one over to that as it is? I have upgraded and bought the domain name through WordPress so could I change that over too?

    Thanks for any help!

That’s correct, such ads are not allowed on your WordPress.com blog.

However, as you said, you will have no restriction on ads if you have a self-hosted WordPress.org blog. Migrating to a WordPress.org blog may require more skills ant time for maintenance but you gain more customization options.
