WordPress.com blog site stat not working?

    Hi,
    In last 2 days no of visitors to my site has dropped significantly. Is there a problem with stats?

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Define “significantly.” With specific numbers. No one else has reported a similar issue.

    Mine has also dropped from about 50 visitors pr day to about 5… I know I’ve had a lot of readers, so the number is unrealistically low…

    There haven’t been other reports of this and my stats are working. Volunteers answering questions on this forum can’t help with this issue. Have you contacts Staff with your details? http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/

    i am having the same problem. When compared with other stat counters i noticed about 35% decrease in viewers.

    Are you aware that none of the third party stats tarckers are tracking exactly the same data? Sitemeter, Statcounter, whosamungus, feedjit and wordpress stats and all the others will never agree. Each one of them decides how and what they will count as a hit. Some count page views and some count unique visitors. Therefore, use any of the stats counters only as a general guide to hits.

    Understand that an application that is not running on the same servers your blog is on is going to be susceptible to wild fluctuations. This is because all hits have to be transferred over the internet to different servers, and there are literally thousands of things that can go wrong between the server your blog is on and the server at the stats place.

    Also be aware of the possibility that the software or hardware at the stats place may be broken and not recording, or counting things as intended.
