WordPress.com business plan hosting questions
-
Hi,
I read recently that the wordpress.com business hosting plan now allows customers to use virtually all themes and plugins but can’t locate any other specific information. Are there traffic size limits? Storage limits? Is there a staging site? Any and all info much appreciated.
Thanks!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi @bobramsak,
Are there traffic size limits?
There are no specific traffic or visitors limit, it’s unlimited.
Still unsure for this, I am tagging modlook to this post so one of the Staff or Happiness engineer can answer this. (You can click ”Subscribe to Topic” on the right-hand side of this thread so, when it gets replies you’ll be notified via mail.)
Storage limits?
Storage is Unlimited.
Is there a staging site?
If you choose to go with the Bussiness plans then there will be some custom-plugins from WordPress.org directory which allows you to do that. I would suggest you, do a little bit of research before doing that.
Thanks!

Hi again,
Your website which you’ve mentioned above pirancafe dot com
is hosted with some dedicated hosting company and using WordPress.org free and open source software. So if you wish to move at WordPress.com with the Business plan you can do that too.
https://move.wordpress.com/Let us know if you need further assistance.
Thanks!

Hi there,
On the Business Plan traffic is unlimited, and storage is at least theoretically unlimited – don’t go trying to upload your entire Blu-ray collection to your media library, for example :D
You can install any plugin from the WordPress.org plugin repository, and you can upload any theme, including completely custom and child themes as a .zip folder. Keep in mind, though, that Jetpack with VaultPress backups are included by default and cannot be removed, and some plugins and themes are known to be incompatible with Jetpack. Most caching plugins, and any plugin that modifies the login screen will also not work.
We don’t offer a staging environment and we don’t offer FTP access, so you also can’t use an offline development site for staging purposes. We recommend you use a maintenance mode plugin instead if you are making significant changes to the site that shouldn’t be live until you’re done. For changes that potentially break something you can restore a VaultPress backup if needed.

Hi, @bobramsak
I apologize for the wrong link above,
if you want to move to WordPress.com here’s the appropriate link
https://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-from-self-hosted-wordpress-to-wordpress-com/And that link https://move.wordpress.com
which I have mentioned above is you are moving from WordPres.com hosting to a self-hosted version of WordPress which is available at WordPress.org free open source software. Thanks!

Storage and Traffic are unlimited. But If you want to upload an HDD on this server this is theoretically not possible.

Thanks everyone, much appreciated. I mainly asked about storage and visits since all web host companies list them and I couldn’t find anything here. Not planning to move a Blue Ray collection :) but have about 15gb on my site currently and was wondering if or when a limit would kick in.
Cheers!

We have a limit on the size of individual files you can upload, but 15GB of total uploads won’t be a problem at all. We recommend not uploading files bigger than 1GB, as timeouts become more common once you go past that. How big a file you can upload will also depend on your connection speed – with a poor connection even a couple hundred MB can cause timeouts.
