WordPress.com could be blocked in Brazil (soon)
-
Just read that a brazilian judge ordered all brazilians ISPs to block a WordPress.com, just like they do with Youtube (or like Turkey and WP.com). Brazilians created a WP.com blog against de blog.
Anyone in brazil could confirm this story?

Lorelle talked about the growing censorship problem.

The thing in Brazil is because some WP.com blogger posted pictures of some Brazilian supermodel type frolicking in the surf with her boyfriend. I gather there were an insufficient number of clothes in the pictures, even for Brazil.
Which is dumb. If you don’t want to be photographed naked, don’t go outside naked.

Lorelle has it that they were doing the horizontal bop in that video. But so what? Does that mean that Brazil bans the bazillions of porn sites out there too? And why tar all wp.com blogs with the same brush?

From reports that i can see …the content that has caused the uproar:
is an embedded image from youtube. (this is only here /say the exact content is supposedly not availably now)This raises questions in my mind: who is responsible for an embedded image?,legally?
in this case Youtube? WordPress.com where the vid was embedded? or the guy who origionally uploaded the the vid? -
Or should certain people in Brazil just chill out and realise that if they want to say what they want others should also be afforded that right.
And raincoaster is spot on – if you don’t want to be seen doing it, just don’t do it. (Advice which a certain Max “more of ze punishment” Mosley should have taken.)

According to US law, the person who uploaded it to YouTube is responsible. Of course, Brazil is not subject to US law. If you do not like the way Brazil respects or disrespects freedom of speech, the place to make the change is Brazil.
But if you post something someone else uploaded to YouTube and some foreign country doesn’t like it, legally there’s not much they can do about it anywhere but their own country.
