WordPress.com Features and Capabilities with Databases
-
Does WordPress.com allow for all of the standard features of a WordPress site, such as databases, PHP, and MySQL? In other words, can we still get all of the flexibility offered by WordPress by being on the WordPress.com hosting platform? I tend to think of WordPress.com sites as being mainly for people’s blogs.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The answer is no. WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. Read the differences here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

Thank you for the answer. So I should assume that things like a directory-based web site that has a database would need to be run from a separate hosting provider for WordPress? I assume WordPress.com is more specifically for traditional blogs?
