    Hello,

I have been using wordpress.com blog for about 3 years now. I have always been super happy with the quality of the service. To such extent that I am a customer of the CSS customisation

I have just found out that Google Adds are automatically added to my blog. This is just a show stopper for me.

Thanks for removing these adds from my blog.

    Cecil.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You seem to be backdated. There have been ads on our blogs for years now. If you wish you can purchase an annually renewable $30 per tear upgrade.
    See > http://en.support.wordpress.com/advertising/

Well, this is new for me too.
    And I absolutely hate it!

    You gave 3 choices:
    1. Purchase a the No-Ads upgrade and renew it annually.
    2. Hire a web host and ownload free software from wordpress.org and run your own site.
    3. Locate another free host that does not finance their platform with advertising.

And not in the least because I can’t see it, but my readers can. How sneaky.

Well, if you want to tell TPTB that you consider their advertising set up to be “sneaky” then do know that it is mentioned in support documentation here.
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/advertising/

It’s also noted on the Features page:

    Advertising
To support the service we may occasionally show Google text ads on your blog, however we do this very rarely. You can remove ads from your blog for a low yearly fee. In the future you’ll be able to show your own ads and make money from your blog.

Well, it seems sneaky but it is not given that the Upgrade is available to remove the Ads. The quality comes at the price ;)

The original announcement in 2006 was made here >
    http://en.blog.wordpress.com/2006/07/27/testing-ads/

Setting that aside with regard to your readers seeing ads, over 46% of those surfing the internet using Firefox, and as it has AdBlock Plus we don’t see any advertising at all.

This caught me off guard as well. Let’s be honest. Who reads terms of service completely? You look a the system, you like it, you start using it. Then you don’t ever see a google add, so you have no reason to think that there are google adds. Since you are always logged in to your own site, you don’t see them there either. (BTW, this is not a conspiracy, it’s just common sense: they don’t want to count your editing traffic as adds displays). In my case someone made a comment about a strange add and that sent me hunting. But I wonder if it is also related to traffic. I’m sure I would have seen the ads before if they were there. Now that my site is getting read more they seem to have started appearing. Can’t rally complain. The ad-free service is cheap, and the blogging setup at wordpress.com is top rate.

The advertsing is not even visible to any wordpress.com meber who is signed into wordpress.com. It’s likewise not visible to the 46% of those surfing the interent who use a Firefox browser with AfBlock Plus even is they are signed into wordpress.com. I’m not surprised the ads started appearing after your blog gained readership and popularity.

But, if it’s really important to you, you can OPT-OUT of WordPress.com showing Google ads on your blog by buying the No-Ads upgrade.
