WordPress.com –> WordPress.org

One I start getting my dite up and running on WordPress.com, can I import it into wordPress.org when I’m ready to ‘upgrade’?

You can import export the “contents” out of your free hosted wordpress.com blog into a self hosted wordpress.org install on your own domain http://support.wordpress.com/import-and-export/#moving-contentIt’s important to understand that moving from a subdomain here at wordpress.com to a wordpress.org install on your own domain is not a matter of upgrading. The two run on different software and you will need to hire a web host and purchase a domain.

http://wordpress.org/hosting/It’s likewise important to know that the page rank your blog achieves on the wordpress.com subdomain will not transfer and all the links to the posts will be broken, UNLESS you purchase domain mapping from wordpress.com http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/11/10/domain-mapping/
There are free videos available that are very helpful when it comes to making the transition from being a free hosted wordpress.com blogger to a self hosting wordpress.org blogger http://onecoolsite.wordpress.com/2008/11/29/become-a-wordpressorg-blogger-free-video-tutorials/
