WordPress.com Hashtags in Reader
-
Ok, so I am trying to correct the hashtags for my blog posts in the reader but I am having trouble figuring out how to do so. Recently I made a post and it added a #design tag which my blog covers zero about fashion. It covers misfit travel and urban exploration. The tags in the actual post reflect the content, but for some reason the reader on WordPress.com is grabbing random hashtags and I cannot figure out why. Any help would be appreciated as I am trying to gain/find similar travel blogs.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Please read the Staff reply regarding using for using tags as opposed to #hashtags: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/hashtag-help?replies=6#post-2737175

Please also cotton to the fact that your site is not hosted by wordpress.COM and the published posts will not appear on WordPress.COM categories and Tags pages.
briancray.net is a wordpress.ORG software install hosted by Dreamhost, not by wordpress.COM.

I already read that. That’s not what I am referring to. The WordPress reader adds my blog post to #design beneath the title of the Post…its not a blog post on fashion. It is incorrectly targeting the post so when people type design in the wordpress reader it is showing up there instead of under travel. I cannot add a picture here to clarify.
-
Then why is it even showing on wordpress.com reader at all then. I’d rather it not even show up if its going to incorrectly tag my posts and place them in Fashion and Design.

I believe you ought to be getting Jetpack support as your site is not hosted here.
Have you contacted Jetpack support Staff?
Jetpack support
Some Jetpack solutions are here http://jetpack.com/support/
Others are in the Jetpack support forum at WordPress.org
http://wordpress.org/support/plugin/jetpack
However, if help cannot be found at either one then they can file a Jetpack support ticket here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/?jetpack=needs-serviceAs you have already tagged this thread for wordpress.COM Staff support please provide a screenshot so I can view what you mean. You can use http://snag.gy/ or http://cloudup.com to share screenshots and link to them here.

Yeah thanks. I finally found a thread that corresponded to my question and it appears the only reason my posts show up in the wordpress.com reader are because of jetpack. So the issue is with jetpack incorrectly tagging my posts. Thanks.

Hi @tt – I was the one who tagged this for Staff, but thanks for the suggestion of grabbing a screenshot. That would be helpful.

@tt – Since the WordPressdotcom Reader is involved, I felt it relevant to tag for Staff in order to clarify the “jetpack incorrectly tagging my posts.” Up until now tags in the Reader for self-hosted sites were not available.
Time for tea and a book for me.

Up until now tags in the Reader for self-hosted sites were not available.
Does that mean that posts published on sites that not hosted by wordpress.COM are now appearing on WordPress.COM Tags and Categories pages?
If the answer is yes that means wordpress.COM is promoting content on sites that are not hosted by wordpress.COM.
And, that posts published on wordpress.COM hosted sites would be unfairly competing for traffic with sites that are not even hosted here.

HI there,
Where exactly are you seeing hashtags on your posts in the Reader? Can you please provide a screen shot, as @timethief suggested? I added your site to my Reader feed and viewed your most recent post, and I don’t see any tags at all, neither in the single post view nor in the main feed.

No sites are added to the Reader automatically. You have to follow a site before it will appear in your Reader stream. However, WordPress.com and Jetpack sites can both appear in Recommended Posts, Related Posts and Search (none of which display tags or categories), and WordPress.com sites can also appear in Tag Search. But the Reader does not add tags to posts. It will display some of the categories and tags, if any, that the author added to a post but it can’t show something that’s not there.
