WordPress.com is stuck on "saving"

  • Unknown's avatar

When I try to save my new post I just get an endless message that says “saving”. Same thing happens when I try to publish…just and endless message saying “publishing” Same thing happen when I try to preview.

I write my own posts, but copy into Apple Text Edit and then past that into my blog.

I have tried saving, publishing, and previewing my last post at “Emerging Civil War” and at “Civil War Chat”

My post is 5,000 words. Is there a size limit?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

No. Are you creating post on your own blog’s dashboard at > Dashboard > Posts > Add New?
    http://emergingcivilwar.com/wp-admin/post-new.php

Or is this where you are creating your posts?
    https://wordpress.com/post/

No. I am creating it at the link below, which I now see may be the error. When I click on “New Post” I get the link below, but that does not appear to be the place I should be. Why in the heck does clicking on “New Post” take me to a url that I should not use? I do not understand why Automattic would do such a thing. How does it make any sense to send me to a url that I am not supposed to use?

Staff are working on the new post feature at https://wordpress.com/post/ I never ever use it at all and I never have these issues.

    Thanks for the help.

However, I trust the staff can understand that providing a “New Post” button is going to encourage some users to click on it when they want to do a new post. If it does not work, then staff should understand that a “New Post” button does no good. In fact, it merely creates trouble for people who are trying to do a new post.

Staff have been developing that new area for about a year now and there will be new iterations. The reality of blogging at WordPress.com is that this is an ever changing blogging environment as this platform is on continuous rollout. Code changes are being made constantly and in cases like this new post editor, reversion is not going to occur. Also note that there are never announcements of this type of ongoing work. There will be further new iterations of the post editor at https://wordpress.com/post/ and that is why my advice is to go to Dashboard > Post > Add New
