WordPress.com lacks the functionality to paste images from clipboard
-
Nowadays, many websites support pasting images from clipboard. Facebook does it. Imgur supports it. Twitter does it, too. And it is so incredibly useful. You are composing a blog post and press Ctrl + v to paste an illustrative image at the cursor position.
Sadly, this is not working on blogs hosted by WordPress.com.
1. You need to click on Add
2. Select Media
3. And Add new to add your imageObviously, you need to save your image clipboard content to a local file first to upload it. Why so complicated? Why not support pasting images from clipboard?

That’s a helpful suggestion. The WordPress.com team is actively tracking this development here: https://github.com/Automattic/wp-calypso/issues/14513
I encourage you to keep an eye on that issue.
