WordPress.com: Locking the Posts' pictures

Hi, Good Morning.
I need some help with the privacy of ma blog pictures. I want to know is there any way in wordpress.com that ma blog pictures could not be “saved as” on other’s computer. I mean the pictures could be kind of “locked”. Is this possible in wordpress.com?

This is not possible anywhere on the web. Once it’s on the web, it can be copied and saved. There is no way to prevent it.

Well, I have seen a couple of websites, where they have blocked the right click. In this way, others only can view the stuff, but cannot use other features which “right click” offers.

It is true that there are websites that can prevent images from being saved. However, those sites operate on self-coded stylesheets and stuff, often with their own webmasters doing the hard legwork behind the scenes. For us mere mortals on WordPress.com, this is not technically possible. Hope this helps.

Anyway, a lot of people can easily get around the disabled right click. I think raincoaster can do it in seconds!! Anything you put on the internet can, and will be copied. If you don’t want anything copied, don’t put it on the internet. That’s the motto!!

No it isn’t.
Some try, but their tricks are easily bypassed.

But at some extent! See, I do want to share ma blog, but only to ma class fellows. The blog is on ma class. So that’s the reason I don’t want to public it. But that’s not only the reason, I don’t want that others can copy or save ma blog pictures, because you know it’s personal ! -

@mrahsanali if you only want specific people to see your blog, then set it as private (Dashboard>Settings>Privacy) and invite those specific people to view it, via Dashboard>Users>Invite New. They will need to sign up for a username each though

Ya, I’ve already done that, thanks. But I know some of ma class mates who have some serious issues with each other, so for the sake of discipline, I must do that. As you know, may be someone would try to exploit using the “media” which I’d share on the blog and try to degrade him/her. I hope you are getting ma point!

I think we have given you all possible answers now. You cannot stop people copying, you can add your copyright to the images before uploading them, that will deter some people. But then again, there are some who can get around that too.

1) Raincoaster is one of the most experienced volunteers in this forum.
2) Disabling right-clicking will only deter the ignorant. Like raincoaster (or any other experienced volunteer here), I can easily copy an image no matter if r.c. has been disabled (I won’t say how, so as not to make the malevolent ignorant less ignorant).
3) Disabling right-clicking is possible on wordpres.com. But there’s no option that would allow you to do it once for all: it has to be done using coding on an image by image basis. It’s not worth it, however, because even if someone doesn’t know how to really copy an image that’s ‘protected’ that way, they can always resort to taking a screenshot. -

As the other have made clear there is no guarantee that any image you place on the internet will not be stolen. Any image you post on the internet can and will be stolen. That’s the reality we face. There is not way to prevent those who are determined to steal your images. Disabling right click isn’t offered by WordPress.com because it creates a false sense of security. Anyone can defeat that is seconds flat. It’s absolutely useless and would only give the illusion that your content is protected. Watermarking images and posting a copyright notice is all you can do.
