WordPress.com not importing images from self hosted WordPress blog

  I have a self hosted WordPress 3.5.1 blog, https://bandus.dyndns.org. I started to migrate to http://theboxandthejar.wordpress.com. The export from the old site is successful and the import of posts is OK on the new site but the images in the posts are not imported properly.

  On the new site I have a link in the post to the image on the old site.

  Since the old blog will be down soon, somehow I need to move the images from the old blog to the media library on the WordPress.com blog.

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Did you check the following box?

  Importing Media (Photos, Videos)

  If you are importing content from another WordPress-powered blog, you can check the “Download and import file attachments“ box and the media files will be downloaded from your old host and uploaded to WordPress.com.

  Hi,
  I have no such check-box.
  Wordpress.com import page says:
  “Download Media
  If you exported your site’s media files, we’ll import those for you automatically.”
  On the old blog there is no option to export the media files.

  The import uses the links in the import file to fetch the media / pictures from the old blog –

  The check box should be on the Import part of the transfer – at your blog here
